AVEDAS supports Karolinska Institutet with its research information system CONVERIS in order to establish 9 thematic networks.
A part of KIs strategy is to bring its researchers together in networks. Previously, three networks have been successfully established. Based upon the positive experiences with these networks, KI decided at the end of 2006 to start six new networks. To effectively reach the planned strategic aims of the research networks, it has been concluded that each network needs a web-based System as support. AVEDAS has been charged with the task to specify and implement a System that meets the needs of the networks and makes use of information from other systems at KI.

The main aims and objectives with the System are to create an identity for each network and to support the communication of each network’s resources towards external target groups. Furthermore, the System shall give an overview of ongoing research activities through a project database and provide access to research competences at KI as well as provide means for communication within each network.
