The crucial element in conducting meaningful analysis and information evaluation is a comprehensive and high-quality database. In many organisations, however, research information for projects, publications or patents is often unavailable, incomplete, obsolete, or distributed across different systems (isolated applications). Moreover, comparative data on other national and international organisations is frequently unobtainable.
AVEDAS collects and structures the “digital footprints” of various skills and makes them available for different kinds of applications. This is an efficient first step towards an internal research information system and the simple way to obtain meaningful benchmarking.
AVEDAS offers a comprehensive and quality-assured data set containing more then 70,000 publicly funded projects. This includes, for instance, projects funded within the EU framework programmes since 1998 (FP5). Data sets for patents and publications are also available. The crucial factor is that these data sets are aligned with each other and that the information objects are inter-related.
Using this research information, AVEDAS provides comprehensive analysis for organisations and clusters to support their strategic orientation. In addition to analysing their own activities, AVEDAS customers can position themselves in a European context. The research information can even be used in the customer’s own system or in a solution provided by AVEDAS. All this is possible without initiating a time-consuming internal process for collecting and structuring information.
