The University of Münster (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster WWU) has implemented a CONVERIS-based CRIS.
As one of Germany’s largest universities, WWU needed a comprehensive research information system in which researchers can collect and present information on all their scientific activities and results. Moreover, CONVERIS enables the university administration and management to analyse the ongoing research activities on a more aggregated level and from various perspectives.
In CONVERIS, WWU-researchers are able to compile information on their research projects, publications and a row of further types of research information. Not only does CONVERIS enable them to present selected parts of their profile via the internet, but even to utilise it for CVs, reports and analyses as well as in funding applications and other contexts.
The university management gains a better overview of all the university’s ongoing research activities and is able to produce tailor-made analyses and reports and present the university’s strengths. With CONVERIS, the university can answer questions like “Which are our strongest research areas, seen to the number of projects and the amount of funding?”, “Who are our main collaboration partners in and outside Germany?” or “Which are our top researchers in a certain research area?” – questions that are crucial for defining and aligning the university’s strategy seen to future research profiles, collaborations and marketing.
In order to provide the best possible data quality and to minimise the workload for manual data collection and administration, CONVERIS has been integrated with a row of internal as well as external information sources.
