In a first step CONVERIS will be used for publications and project management. Approval processes e.g. for publications or research projects will be managed directly in the system, replacing paper forms by a completely digital solution. For its publications management KIT has decided to replace existing repositories with CONVERIS. With this KIT has set another milestone on its way to an Integrated Information Management for the University.
KIT decision-makers were also convinced by CONVERIS’ user-friendly and taylor-made publication reports and bibliometric analyses. Furthermore, the flexible adaptation of the system to existing complex research structures spoke in favour of the system. CONVERIS will go live in 2011.
On October 1st, 2009, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) was founded by a merger of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and the University of Karlsruhe. It is now one of the largest scientific organisations in Europe. Thus KIT’s new research information system will be used by a large number of scientists and will probably handle more than 70.000 publications.
