Cranfield University chooses CONVERIS
Management and storage of research information is high on the agenda of research intensive Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the United Kingdom, particularly in the current climate where research assessments and funding are becoming more closely tied to research metrics. Therefore, Cranfield University has chosen to implement Converis to facilitate the management of research information across the research life cycle.
Converis will provide for data collection, validation and quality assurance for the effective planning, monitoring, reporting, communication and future modeling of its research activities. Most importantly Converis will assist the University to prepare for the forthcoming Research Excellence Framework (REF), the new system for assessing the quality of research in UK HEIs.
Converis is an established off the shelf CRIS solution, that can be readily configured and adapted to meet evolving institutional requirements. This means that the system can become operational quickly while at the same time taking into account the specific needs of Cranfield’s various research communities. By further replacing some of the current in-house systems, and integrating with others, Converis serves as a single source of quality assured information on publications, projects, students and other research activities including reporting for the REF and for other external funding agencies such as the UK Research Councils.
